Q. How do Log in to SPARK Ontario?

A: In order to enjoy the logged in benefits of SPARK such as posting a story, customizing your search, and keeping track of your favourite volunteering opportunities, you need to create an account. Click on the word Join that appears in the top right-hand section of any page on the website. You can join as an individual if you are looking for volunteering opportunities or join as an organization if you have volunteer opportunities or volunteer stories you want to share. When setting up your login, you will need to provide your name (only needs to be a first name) and a valid email address that you have access to. Don’t worry, your email address will not display anywhere on the website.  From there, just follow the instructions and we’ll get you set up!

Q. Does it cost anything to join SPARK?

A. No. There is no cost to join Spark either as an organization or a volunteer.

Q. I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

A. Click on the word at the top right-hand section of any page on the website. Click on the Forgot Password link and enter the email address you used to create your account. Instructions will be sent to this account so you can reset you password 

Q. What if I find material on SPARK that I think is offensive?

A. If you find a story, video or photo that is offensive, please click on the link within the story itself that says, “Report Abuse”. For any other complaints or concerns, email info@sparkontario.ca

Q. I am from a small, grassroots organization but we aren’t a charity or a non-profit. Can I still post my positions on SPARK?

A. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to post your volunteering opportunities on SPARK at this time. For further support, please contact a volunteer centre near you. Click here to see a map. 

Q. Who runs SPARK?

A. Spark is an online volunteering platform that is operated by Findhelp Information Services.  Visit our About page for more details.

Q. How do I submit a story?

A. We’d love to see your volunteering story posted on SPARK! In order to do so you need to create an account. Both individuals and registered non-profit organizations in Ontario can create accounts and post stories on SPARK. To get started, click on the word Join that appears in the top right section of any page on our website.

Q. Will creating an account mean that my personal information will be visible to other visitors of the site?

A. No. We do not display any personal information that you have used to create your account on SPARK. However, when you submit a story we will display your user name and would prefer that you indicate the community you come from, such as Peterborough or Toronto. It gives the story authenticity and helps other SPARK visitors relate to what you have to share. Make sense? See our Privacy Policy for further details.

Q. Can I meet with someone in person to help me decide what volunteering opportunity is right for me?

A. To get help finding a volunteering opportunity that is right for you, please contact a volunteer centre in your area. Click here to see a map.

Q. Can I get someone from SPARK to come and speak to my community group about how to volunteer?

A. Contact a volunteer centre near you to find out about how to get help. They may be able to meet with your group or provide resources that can help. Also, check out SPARK’s Volunteer Q & A page.

Q. How do I unsubscribe from emails I receive from SPARK?

A. Login to your profile and set the ‘never’ option from the email frequency pull down list.

Q. How do I deactivate my account?
