About this Opportunity

Job Description:
To work on the organizationâ s fundraising and other revenue generating activities. The individual will assist in developing and writing project grants as well as funding proposals which will be matched to HSDCâ s programs and services. The individual will work closely with other staff, volunteers and report to the Program Director. 
 
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Writing Grant Applications, step by step proposal narratives, cover letters,  letters of inquiry , letters of intents, etc
Communicating with other staff to gather current and accurate information necessary for developing a good grant application
Assembling proposal attachments as required by individual funders
Providing advice and support for the fundraising activities of the organization.
Assigning, checking and maintaining the flow of work for fundraising activities through preparation and/or editing of all written materials, including introductory letters to donors, letters of intents, funding proposals, and follow-up donorâ s correspondence, etc.

Qualifications & Experience:
University or College degree,  Post Secondary education or equivalent
At least one year experience with professional writing is an asset (fundraising or government grant proposal composition, etc.)  HSDC will train the right candidate.
Knowledge of, and/ or past experience working with funders, agencies, foundations or Government bodies is an asset
Previous report writing and/or presentation skills is an asset

Skills Needed:
Must have excellent writing skills and ability to produce and/or  edit documents
Good  knowledge base of donors is an asset
Ability to interact with donors, volunteers and staff, etc.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Detail oriented, problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Proven skills in Microsoft Office products (Ability to type at least 35WPM)
