HSDC is currently seeking a skilled Sewing Instructor/Dress-Making Tutor to teach on a part-time basis, basic, intermediate practical sewing course at our center. HSDCâ s sewing group meets every Tuesday & Thursday and the participants come together to learn dress-making, pattern drafting, fashion design, equipment maintenance, and more about the fashion industry including job/contract opportunities. Here, women come to acquire skills that will enable them to get jobs in the fashion industry (or) become self-employed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
â ¢Teach sewing and dress-making course to a small group of participants twice a week
â ¢Assisting participants with sewing-related questions and providing industrial information
â ¢Teaching the group the various ways of maintaining their sewing machines
Qualifications & Experience:
â ¢Skilled in advanced sewing technologies
â ¢Previous experience in sewing
â ¢Previous teaching experience is an asset
â ¢Good communication/interpersonal and group management skills
â ¢In-depth knowledge of silhouettes, sketching & fit, color selections and fabrication is an asset
â ¢Should be flexible, patient, tolerant, and compassionate
